Rogier van der Heide
Rogier van der Heide is an internationally recognized lighting designer whose work explores light as a material that shapes perception, atmosphere, and human experience. With over three decades of practice, he has led transformative design initiatives at organizations including Philips Lighting, where he served as Chief Design Officer, and has contributed to a wide range of architectural and cultural projects worldwide.
Today, through his atelier, Rogier focuses on crafted, intentional light. Light that is developed through physical experimentation, material exploration, and close collaboration with architects and clients. His approach moves beyond technology or efficiency, aiming instead to create meaningful, lasting experiences that resonate with people and place.
Rogier’s work bridges design, science, and craftsmanship, emphasizing clarity over complexity and outcomes over theory. He believes that the future of lighting lies not in adding more, but in understanding more: revealing what light can do when it is treated as an essential, expressive element of our environment.
Chris Bosse
Chris Bosse is the Founder and Managing Director of LAVA – Laboratory for Visionary Architecture, was Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, and was a key designer of the Beijing National Aquatics Center (“Watercube”).
His work focuses on the delivery of large-scale architecture, urban design, and infrastructure projects that combine advanced digital workflows, environmental performance, and efficient construction systems. Over the past two decades, he has led projects ranging from stadiums and mixed-use developments to major masterplans and public buildings across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Key projects include the concept for the Al Bayt tent stadium in Doha, the National Stadium for Addis Ababa, mixed-use developments across Asia such as Citygarden in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and other award-winning sustainable urban projects. LAVA also won the international competition for the zero-carbon city centre of Masdar City.
In 2024, LAVA won the international competition for the masterplan of Expo 2030 Riyadh, one of the world’s largest upcoming global events, expected to host more than 190 countries and millions of visitors. Chris Bosse currently directs the overall concept masterplan together with his international team, including the design leadership of the KSA Pavilion and the Expo Icon, guiding the project toward its opening in October 2030.
