Memorial Pasta de Conchos
墨西哥
In protest against the poor working conditions, low wages, and lack of safety that cause DEATHS, we created a utopian space for reflection to remember those who lost their lives in the mine, letting the light keep them alive in the Memory of an entire country.
It celebrates the diversity and legacy of life through light that transcends time, employing a simple yet effective blend of artificial and natural light that responds to its surroundings, paying respect to the natural environment. Conceptually and poetically, the lighting design captures the past, present, and future.
— Eugenia ChengThough strikingly simple, the 65 totems capture natural light, weaving an ever-shifting tapestry throughout the day and across the four seasons within the interior. This continuous cycle forms a ritual that eternally commemorates those who lost their lives in the mine, deeply moving all who behold it. At night, a seamless illumination extends outside above ground, evoking a scene that remains simple yet profoundly solemn and poetic.
